Property prices typically pull back in October for both apartments and houses. This year, Swedish home prices dropped by 1.5 percent in October compared to September. House prices fell across all six regions of the country, declining by 2.4 percent as a whole – an unusually large decrease.
"You have to say it was a heavy price drop for houses in October. Following strong growth earlier this year relative to apartments, apartment prices are now showing better momentum than house prices," said Robert Boije, chief economist at SBAB, in a statement.
Apartment prices rose by 0.3 percent.
"Apartment prices developed unusually strongly in October. They are now only around 4 percent below the peak levels of spring 2022. In Greater Stockholm, the slump that followed the 2022 inflation and interest rate shock has now basically been wiped out," Boije added.
